Physical strength, bike handling skill, traffic knowledge, and rules of traffic laws are the four basic requirements for safe cycling. In fact if you don’t have the effort then how you would cycle. For a long run the cyclist would need all these four requirements with all his effort in good stead. 1. Building cycling strength: A cyclist needs strong calf and thigh muscles except doing these simple physical exercises like jogging, walking or skating to build muscular strength. Cycling on rough terrains and mountain trails can help to build their muscular strength. Also, pedaling on long distances helps cyclist’s body to adapt to strain. In fact it will be good for the cyclist for riding a comfortable distance every day. 2. Improving handling skills: It’s important for the cyclist to handle the cycle properly, that will leads to efficient cyclist. Importantly an efficient cyclist should look back, avoid obstacles like stones, holes ditches, and keep to a straight line, mounting and so on while riding. Cycling in empty park lots, deserted lanes or cycling tracks is the best way to learn these skills. 3. Rules for safety: the cyclist should obey the traffic rules and regulation while riding, he should ensure traffic light colored flashes, and he should wear light colored clothes for visibility. Cyclist should also try to keep their bike in best condition especially the brakes. You must have to wear helmets, bells, night-lights, riding on bike paths and try to keep to the lane. 4. Keeping alert: It is important to be alert enough and attentive so that you can change your rout instantly when ever it requires or brake when encountering an unexpected obstacle. 5. Taking the less traveled road: Cycling on the less traveled road not only makes the ride enjoyable but also less strenuous. There is less traffic, and the cyclist can speed up if the weather is good or if he is in a hurry. This is not possible on high density traffic routes, where there is always a danger of collision. 6. Keeping the bike in good repair: you should always take good care of the bike. If you are in hurry and you can gear up if there is free traffic, but this can be possible when the brakes are properly adjusted, the wheel alignment is right and feeling comfortable in your seat. |
